Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Sacred Heart Novena honors the infinite love of Jesus Christ, symbolized by His physical heart—pierced for our salvation, burning with love for humanity. This novena is traditionally prayed in the nine days before the Feast of the Sacred Heart (the Friday after Corpus Christi).
Jesus revealed devotion to His Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century, promising extraordinary graces to those who honor it.
Sacred Heart Novena - Daily Prayer
Opening Prayer (pray each day):
O my Jesus, You have said: "Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you." Behold, I knock, I seek, and I ask for the grace of:

Closing Prayer:
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tender Mother and ours.
Say the Hail, Holy Queen and add:
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
The Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart
Jesus promised to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that He would grant these graces to those devoted to His Sacred Heart:
- I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
- I will give peace in their families.
- I will console them in all their troubles.
- I will be their refuge in life and especially in death.
- I will abundantly bless all their undertakings.
- Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
- Tepid souls shall become fervent.
- Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.
- I will bless those places where the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.
- I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.
- Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in My Heart.
- The Great Promise: I promise you, in the excessive mercy of My Heart, that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in My displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments. My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in that last moment.
